Introduction to Fly Fishing on Rutland Water
We really like this Scuba Diving & Coasteering Experience near Rutland, Leicestershire.
Enjoy a fishing adventure in one of the most beautiful rural areas of England and Europe’s largest fishing lake. In a fully-equipped lakeside fishing cabin, learn all about the fishing tackle, the flies used, what, when and how to fish them, how to read the water and how to cast a fly. Then put the coaching into practise and fly fish for trout from the lakeside bank. Rules permit fishers to take a maximum of two fish home (prepared and packed). The award-winning Rutland Water has approximately 26 miles of shoreline, covering 3,500 acres and is Europe’s premier and largest trout fishing lake, where the trout are not too easy to catch but the quality of the fish is world-class. Light refreshments and a certificate are included.
Selected days from April to June and October to November, when the fishing is at its best.
Fishing will go ahead in all types of weather.
Lasts for up to four hours.
Share your experience with up to eight other participants.
Dress according to the weather.
Minimum age is 16.
Fishing generally takes place from the bank adjacent to the fishing cabin, but be aware that due to the vast size of Rutland Water, in certain conditions it may be necessary to follow your guide a short distance by car to a more favourable fishing spot.
