Healthy Cake Baking at Blackberry Cottage
Take a look at this Experience located handily in Reading, Berkshire.
Spinach brownies? Courgette cake? Whilst the idea of vegetables in cakes might be a bit foreign to many of us and downright unfair to kids (who often need tricking into eating veg), this enlightening and fascinating class at Blackberry Cottage is changing minds every day! The brainchild of head baker Kate, this award-winning workshop takes place in a picturesque Berkshire countryside setting, and begins with a friendly introduction to the concept and how these popular classes came to be. Guests will learn to use fresh, local vegetables as well as alternative flours such as gram and rice, to create delicious cakes with no added sugar or fats. Afterwards, each guest takes home their creation to prove it, along with an exclusive goodie bag!
Classes run regularly on weekdays and weekends; dates will be confirmed at point of booking.
Classes begin at 10am and finish at 2pm.
Share the experience with up to five other budding bakers.
The class is unsuitable for spectators.
There is no dress code but comfortable clothing and flat, closed in shoes (as much time is spent standing) are recommended. All equipment is provided.
Both beginners and those with previous cooking experience aged 16 or over are welcome. Please inform the school at the time of booking of any dietary, allergies or specific medical requirements.
Please bring an apron and boxes in which to take your cakes home. Please note, recipes vary and will not all be gluten, sugar or fat free. The key ingredient in all will be fresh vegetables.
