Get a firm grasp of digital photography with this hands-on, instructional course held in Newcastle. Great for both those with a little background knowledge and complete novices, the course teaches how to effectively use all important functions of a DSLR camera as well as offering invaluable techniques in creative composition. Learn all about aperture, ISO and white balance, shutter speeds and exposure control under the expert guidance of professional working photographers. Leave with a certificate of participation, full course notes and most likely, a newfound passion for digital photography.


A Saturday or Sunday date at least four times a year.


The course may be cancelled or curtailed in extreme weather conditions (e.g. snow, ice or severe rain). Please call the venue if in any doubt.

How long does the experience last?

The experience starts at 9.30am and finishes at approximately 4.30pm, including a break for lunch (not provided).

How many other people?

A maximum of 12 participants share the day.

Can I take people to watch?

This experience is not appropriate for spectators.

What do I wear?

The experience begins indoors but much of it takes place outside, so please dress appropriately with suitable footwear.

Are there any restrictions?

Minimum age 16. Participants don’t need any previous photography experience, but must have a digital SLR camera.

Lunch is not provided, so please bring it with you. The course trainers are all hand-picked working photographers who share a passion for photography.
