Delve into the wild world of cowboys and cowgirls on this fantastic trail ride in the New Forest. The New Forest has England’s largest remaining tracts of unenclosed pasture land and bears our closest resemblance to the Wild West. On the day you’ll be riding a trusty Western Paint horse western-style – this technique is easier to grasp and feels more secure than the traditional English-style and is also designed for comfort. Leave the stresses and strains of everyday existence as you head into the picturesque countryside for a two hour trail, led by expert wranglers. Back at the ranch, tuck into a well- earned barbeque meal and hot coffee.

Mainly Saturday mornings, at least once a month between April and October.

This experience won’t be cancelled due to bad weather – if it’s raining you’re going to get wet!

How long does the experience last?

Can last up to two to three hours (depending on group size on the day). Please aim to arrive early; traffic congestion at Lyndhurst can add considerable time to weekend or holiday journeys.

How many other people?

A maximum of 12 people ride.

Can I take people to watch?

Spectators must be booked and paid for a minimum of three days in advance, direct with the venue, at £12.50 per person to include the barbecue meal. Please note that they can wave you off but they won’t be able to see most of the riding.

What do I wear?

Dress for the weather. Bring a long-sleeved top and wear long trousers and sturdy boots or shoes with a small heel (no trainers or flat shoes). If you have a riding hat please bring it along; if not, one can be provided.

Are there any restrictions?

Minimum age 12. Minimum height 5′. Max weight 15 stone. Not suitable for pregnant women or anyone with visual or hearing impairments. Epileptics need a medical declaration signed by their doctor. Any other disabilities must be declared prior to booking.

Anything Else?

All western trails are mixed ability and are conducted at a gentle pace, walk and trot only. Complete beginners welcome. Sorry, but cameras can’t be taken on the rides.
