Weekday Sunrise or Sunset Hot Air Balloon Ride
A lovely Experience located in several locations..
Experience the bliss of a hot air balloon flight with this relaxing trip floating over gorgeous scenery. Begin on the ground, meet the pilot and have a safety briefing, before getting stuck in and helping to prepare and inflate the balloon. Fly to heights of up to 3,000 feet, taking in panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The balloon moves with the wind so no breeze is felt, meaning the atmosphere is completely calm. Upon landing, help to pack the balloon away and then get driven back to the launch site to receive a flight certificate. Balloon operators vary, with some offering a slightly longer flight and others a glass of champagne on landing. Truly the most serene way to fly!
Weekdays from March/April to October/November at most venues. Flights take place at dawn or dusk, when the air is most stable. Dates fill very quickly, so book at least four weeks in advance.
Ballooning is extremely weather dependent – it is crucial to call the venue before the flight. If postponed, an alternative date and location can be arranged (please contact the operator for information).
Actual flight length is determined by the conditions on the day. The experience normally lasts around three hours, including one hour for inflating the balloon and one hour for packing the balloon away and returning to the launch site.
Share the balloon with between 8 -16 other flyers, plus a qualified pilot.
Spectators are welcome to watch the launch (a wonderful sight) and wave you off. A pair of binoculars or a camera come in handy.
Wear trousers, long sleeves and sensible footwear (no high heels please). Please don’t wear loose scarves or jewellery. Bring a hat – the heat from the burner overhead can be intense. Bear in mind that launch and landing sites can be muddy.
Maximum weight 18 stone. Minimum height 4’6”. Minimum age is 8. Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult. Ballooning isn’t suitable for pregnant women. Any medical conditions must be declared in advance.
