This experience is not just for singers – it’s also perfect for musicians who’d like to record a piece. Come along to the session having rehearsed something, and after a run through, make a recording. A session engineer and studio staff demonstrate the recording process, giving expert advice and tips on how to get the best from your voice. Get a feel for what happens behind the scenes in the music industry – and maybe get to hear some stories about the stars. Participants are even welcome to bring along guests. At the end, take home the recording on a CD to wow friends and family.

Availability

Availability varies between venues. Dates generally fill up quickly, so we recommend you book several weeks in advance, particularly during the busiest summer weekends.

How long does the experience last?

Lasts for 90 minutes, to record one song. Come well-rehearsed to ensure that valuable studio time isn’t wasted on practise and re-takes.

How many other people?

The studio time is held on a one-to-one basis with an experienced recording engineer.

Can I take people to watch?

Either two or four spectators (depending on venue, minimum age eight at Manchester and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult) are welcome. They can bring cameras or video cameras.

Are there any restrictions?

Under 16s (depending on venue) must be accompanied by an adult. Up to two people are welcome to take part, singing solos or duets or playing instruments.

Anything Else?

If you have problems finding a particular track, each studio has an extensive catalogue of songs and will be happy to help. Most studios will call you to discuss your chosen song with them a week or two in advance of your booking.
