Enjoy a wonderful time at these stables in Bedfordshire learning to ride a horse. Perfect for novices, the experience begins with a briefing instructing how to groom and prepare the horse for a hack. Then move onto a lesson to help get acquainted with the horse and understand the basics of riding. Once ready, it’s time to go out for a hack across the beautiful bridleways of Chiltern Hills. After a light lunch, head back to the stables to untack and rest the horses.
Tuesday – Thursday (at least two dates per month) throughout the year.
Riding may be cancelled or curtailed in extreme weather (e.g. heavy rain or snow) for the safety of both the participants and horses. If you have any concerns about the weather, please call the venue before leaving home.
The experience begins at 10am, please arrive a few minutes early and expect to be at the venue between four and five hours. Riding time is approximately two and a half hours and lunch lasts 45 minutes.
Share the experience with a maximum of eight other participants.
Spectators are welcome and can join you for lunch at a cost of £10 per person, payable on the day by cash or cheque only.
Wear comfortable clothes (e.g. leggings, jodhpurs or track suit bottoms) which are suitable for the weather (no strap tops please) with wellingtons or flat soled boots. Jeans, trainers and lace-up shoes are not recommended. A riding hat is provided.
This activity is for beginners only. Minimum age is 16. Maximum weight is 20 stone (the venue reserves the right to weigh). The mount is chosen to match riders’ age, weight and experience. Under 18s must be met and accompanied to the pub by a guardian.
Please note, to cancel or change the date of this experience once it’s booked, at least seven days’ notice is required.
