It’s a rare and heart-soaring kind of joy: easing into a go kart, teasing the pedal to hear the engine roar, then flooring it until the surroundings are but a streak of colour. Many a Grand Prix pro (such as Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton) started out with karting before going on to become Formula 1 world champions. At one of 19 superb locations, kick off with a briefing and get kitted out in the specialist gear provided. Line up at the start with your rivals before going head-to-head for an explosive 50-lap race around the specially designed track. Everyone receives printed lap-times and the top three drivers earn the glory of standing on the podium and receiving a trophy each. Novice or expert, this is high-octane driving at its zenith.

Available Sunday to Friday throughout the year, with at least two events per month.

These are indoor tracks which aren’t affected by the weather.

How long does the experience last?

The session lasts at least 90 minutes, including around 30 – 40 minutes driving time. Please arrive 40 minutes prior to the track schedule time. Due to the increased size of the track at Warrington, the race at this location is 40 laps.

The number of competitors can vary from 20 to 40.

Can I take people to watch?

Spectators are welcome, and there are snack bars and viewing areas at most locations.

What do I wear?

Wear flat shoes or trainers. A race suit and helmet are provided.

Are there any restrictions?

Minimum age is 16 and a minimum inside leg measurement of 29 inches is required. Some medical conditions (e.g. pregnancy, epilepsy, fainting, neck or back injuries) may mean you can’t take part. A disclaimer must be signed on the day.
