Image: Honey badger (Mellivora capensis).

Comments

This photograph shows the general features of the honey badger rather well. The contrasting black underparts and pale grey upperparts make this animal particularly striking. This may well be a form of warning colouration, like the striking black and white faces of some of the true badgers.

Just like the true badgers, the honey badger has particularly well-developed claws on its forefeet. These are used for digging out small animal prey, and excavating dens.
