Legal protection

The hog badger is protected in the following countries:

• India - Protected under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. [ w145 ]
• Indonesia. [ w058 , w260-09 ]
• Thailand: Protected under the Animals Protection Act. [ w134 ]

Habitat protection

Populations of the hog badger occur in the following protected areas:

• China - the Wolong Reserve (Sichuan province). [ b140 , w156 ]
• India - Vangai Reserved Forest (Manipur). [ b034 ]
• Indonesia - Kerinci Seblat National Park , [ w260-07 ], Gunung Leuser National Park [ w153 ] (both on the island of Sumatra).
• Thailand - Kaengkrachan National Park [ w163 ], Khao Yai National Park [ w057 ].
• Vietnam: Cat Tien National Park (Dong Nai province) [ w133 ].

Research and conservation work

I have not been able to find records of any surveys, studies or practical conservation action being taken on behalf of this species.

I am not aware of any efforts being made to enhance the welfare of this species in any part of its range.
