Once you know what you are looking for, the badger's footprints are quite easy to recognise. In this photo you can clearly see the broad imprint made by the pad of the badger's fore foot, with 4 toe marks lined up in a row just above it, and the mark of the smaller fifth toe set slightly to the side. Note the long claw marks; the claws on the hind feet are much smaller.
