Image: A snare.

Comments

This snare has been carefully positioned at a place where an animal path passes through a gap underneath a fence. It may have been set to catch a fox or rabbit. However, it is just as likely to catch a badger if there are any in the area.

That's the problem with snares - they are indiscriminate killers. They can also cause their victims terrible and prolonged suffering. This is why the Badger Trust campaigns for a ban on the use of snares. The campaign is supported by a petition which has so far been signed by over 50,000 people.
