Ideas for action

There are no Badger Groups in North America, and few projects which seek to enhance the welfare or conservation of Taxidea taxus specifically. Opportunities to get involved in such activities are therefore rather limited. However, there are things that people can do to improve the lot of the American badger:

• If you see a badger, please report your sighting so that a better picture of the badger's distribution and numbers can be built up.
• Support campaigns aimed at outlawing the use of leg hold traps in the USA and Canada. Such campaigns have been organised in several US states.
• Do not purchase products made with badger hair or fur.
• Support animal rescue centres which take in, treat and release injured wildlife such as badgers.
• If you have any information about the American badger, its behaviour, biology, ecology, distribution or conservation, please pass it on so that I can incorporate it into these pages and make it available worldwide.
