No organisation can survive without finance. Here are details of some of the things we need money for:

Vet bills

Some of the injured badgers we rescue need veterinary care which has to be paid for. In addition, we also make donations to rescue centres (such as the Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital) when they look after injured or orphaned badgers on our behalf (see photo).

Rescue equipment

Badger rescue cages cost around £100 each, while dog graspers (used to capture injured badgers) cost around £50 each. We also need equipment to ensure the safety of our Rescue Officers when attending to road casualties - reflective jackets, warning triangles and flashing amber warning lights.

GPS systems

Logging the exact locations of road casualties and setts can sometimes be difficult. GPS units provide us with location details at the press of a button.

Night vision units

These units are extremely useful for monitoring badgers and their setts at night without being seen by the badgers - or by those who might try to harm them.

IT equipment

Computers are essential these days, for producing letters, newsletters, leaflets, presentations and of course this website! Then there are printers...

Display materials

Enlargements of photographs and other display materials for exhibiting on our display panels all cost money to produce.

Travelling expenses

Brockwatch volunteers clock up hundreds of miles while checking setts and road casualties, investigating reports of persecution and carrying out surveys. We do not believe that people who freely donate their time should also have to foot the bill for the fuel they use in the process, so funds are needed to contribute towards these expenses.

Stationery, printing and postage

To keep our members and others informed about our work we need to pay for photocopying, paper, toner cartridges, envelopes and stamps.

Supporting other organisations

We make financial contributions to the Badger Trust and to other organisation which help to protect badgers.
