Badger Facts

Discovering Badgers, by Martin Banks.

This books deals mostly with the European badger. However, there is also information about the other badgers of the world. Lots of colour photos and pictures, including photos of the American badger, the hog badger and the honey badger. Published by Wayland (Publishers) Ltd in 1988, but now out of print.

The Badger Book, by Anna Jones.

An excellent introduction to the European badger, with plenty of line drawings and cartoons. Available from the Brock Shop.

Badgers, by Ernest Neal.

Part of the A & C Black "Nature in Close-up" series. Facts about the European badger. Lots of colour photos. Now out of print.

Badgers, by Joan Kalbacken.

A book about American badgers. Gives information about what the badger looks like, and how it lives, rears its young, and survives. Lots of colour photos. Available from the Brock Shop.

Badger, by Carl Green and William Sanford.

This book is also about American badgers. It covers the same things as "Badgers" by Joan Kalbacken. Available from the Brock Shop.

Buddy Badger, by Dave and Pat Sargent.

A story about a young badger who learns how to survive in the wild. The story tells us about the habitat the badger lives in, the badger's behaviour, and the predators it must face. Aimed at 4 - 8 year-olds. Available from the Brock Shop.

Badger Stories

Badger in the Basement, by Lucy Daniels and Ben Baglio.

Two children find that a badger sett has been attacked by badger diggers. A badger cub has been left behind. The children must look after the cub, and try to stop the badger diggers from striking again. Aimed at 9 - 12 year-olds. Available from the Brock Shop.

Incident at Hawk's Hill, by Allan Eckert.

This book is based on a true story about a small boy in the Canadian prairie. He gets lost, but is looked after by a mother badger who has lost her cubs. Available from the Brock Shop.

The White Badger, by Gordon Burness.

Two young boys go badger watching - and find an albino badger! This is the true story of "Snowball", the white badger, who even appeared on TV. Published by Harrop / Carousel in 1970, but now out of print.
