This photograph shows the general features of the honey badger rather well. The contrasting black underparts and pale grey upperparts make this animal particularly striking. This may well be a form of warning colouration, like the striking black and white faces of some of the true badgers. Just like the true badgers, the honey badger has particularly well-developed claws on its forefeet. These are used for digging out small animal prey, and excavating dens.
