This is the first of two superb photographs of a hog badger in Thailand, taken by Cliff and Dawn Frith. The photo shows some of the key features which distinguish the hog badger from its close relative, the Eurasian badger. First there is the elongated snout, at the end of which there is a pink, pig-like nose. Next, there is a secondary facial stripe running from the muzzle to the ear, across the cheek. The secondary stripe is particularly clear on this individual.
