Badgers will dig up and eat the nests of bumblebees as well as wasp nests. When a badger attacks a wasp nest, there are usually fragments of the papery nest left in the hole. However, bees' nests are often eaten in their entirety, no doubt because they contain honey as well as juicy larvae. All that remains to tell the tale is a small hole in the ground, and a few bees.
Despite the fact that badgers dig up bee nests, claims that they are responsible for the decline of bumblebees are nonsense. For more information, see my blog post The badgers and the bees.
