A badger pathway

Image: Eurasian badger (Meles meles) - pathway.

Comments

When they leave their setts to go about their nocturnal activities, badgers usually follow regular paths or runs, which are marked with the badgers' scent. These pathways are usually highly visible, and some are so obvious and well-worn that they look like human paths. There are however a few clues that point to this being a badger path rather than one made by people. First, the path goes underneath a barbed wire fence at the bottom of the bank (and there are badger hairs caught in the barbs of the bottom strand of the wire). Second, it goes under the fallen branch by the tree at the top of the bank.
