A snared badger

Image: Eurasian badger (Meles meles).

Comments

This badger has been caught in a snare, which was set where a path used by badgers went through a gap under the fence. Notice how the badger has worn away all the grass in a semi-circle around the point where the snare is anchored, during its struggle to escape.

Although this badger has suffered injury and a great deal of stress, it is one of the lucky ones - after the photograph was taken, the animal was rescued. Many other badgers are not so fortunate.
