In the wildSightings of American badgers in the wild are far from rare, but the vast majority of these have been chance encounters. I am not aware of any locations where American badgers are seen (let alone watched) in the wild on a regular basis. Finding a breeding den would appear to be the best bet for watching badgers, but even then there is no guarantee that the mother will not move her young to another den! Back to: Top / Contents
In captivityIf you really want to see a live American badger, then a zoo would seem to be the only place where a sighting is guaranteed. American badgers are exhibited in the following zoos: Canada- Saskatchewan: Saskatoon Zoo [w176].
USA- Arizona: Prescott Heritage Park Zoo [w164].
- California: Folsom City Zoo [w165], San Diego Zoo [w166].
- Minnesota: Zollman Zoo, Olmstead County [w167].
- Nevada: Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park [w168].
- New Mexico: Living Desert Zoo and Gardens State Park, Carlsbad [w169].
- Texas: Houston Zoo [w170], Texas Zoo [w171].
- Virginia: Peninsula SPCA Petting Zoo, Newport News [w172].
- Wisconsin: Henry Vilas Park Zoo, Madison [w173].
Mexico- Miguel Alvarez del Toro Zoo, Tuxtla Gutiérrez [w175].
Do you know of any other places where American badgers can be seen? If so, please let me know.
