60 Minute Light Aircraft Flight in Bristol
Take a look at this Driving Experiences Experience within easy reach of Bristol, Bristol City.
With feet firmly on the ground on arrival at the Bristol airfield, potential flyers receive a full brief focusing on flying techniques and safety from a fully qualified instructor and pilot. Then get on board a Piper PA28 (a dual-controlled two-seater training plane) and prepare for take-off. During the 60 minute flight, take the opportunity to ‘get behind the wheel’ (at the pilot’s discretion). Once in charge of the flight controls, bask in the joy of flying this single-engine, piston-powered aircraft and enjoy the stunning panoramic views.
Seven days a week except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Weekends can get very busy; if a weekend date is required we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance (even earlier for summer weekends).
Flying is a weather dependent activity and it’s essential to call the venue for a weather check before setting out. If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, it will be re-booked for an alternative date or time.
The experience will last for about 80 minutes, including a 60 minute flight. Flight times are approximate and are the chocks-off to chocks-on duration.
The briefing might be shared. The flight will be held on a one-to-one basis with the instructor.
Spectators are welcome to watch the take off and landing.
Wear flat-soled shoes. Sunglasses are recommended all year round.
Minimum age is 16. Maximum weight is 18 stone. Maximum height is 6’6”. For security reasons, photographic ID (ideally a passport) MUST be produced by all passengers on the day or they wo’nt be permitted to fly.
Flying time can count towards a Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL). To qualify for a PPL 35 hours of dual control and 10 hours solo flying is required. For anyone who has wanted to be a pilot, this is a great way to get started.
