30 Minute Boeing Stearman Flight
A lovely Driving Experiences Experience located in Folkestone, Kent.
From a farm in Kent, take to the skies in a 1940s Boeing Stearman vintage aircraft and feel the exhilaration of flying an open cockpit biplane in this beautiful rebuilt classic. The Boeing Stearman was used as a primary training aircraft by the U.S army corps and U.S navy before and during WWII. Following a safety briefing when you arrive, head to the plane with the instructor and feel the rush of the wind as the plane lifts off the ground. Marvel at the views from the open cockpit. After explaining the controls and showing off some great moves, the pilot will, at his or her discretion, let you take over (if you’re feeling brave) to find out what flying a vintage plane is really like.
Flights take place between April and October but this may vary slightly, depending on the weather.
Aerobatic flying is very weather dependent. It is crucial that you call the venue for a weather check before setting out. If the flight is cancelled because of bad weather you’ll be re-booked for an alternative date or time.
The experience lasts for about one hour. Chocks-off to chocks-on flight time is 30 minutes.
Share the aircraft with just the pilot. The briefing session may be shared.
Spectators are welcome. A camera or a pair of binoculars will come in handy – there will be some great photo opportunities. Pets are not permitted at any airfield (except guide dogs).
Wear flat, soft-soled shoes. Skirts are not permitted as they restrict the controls. Any special clothing and headsets will be provided. Bring gloves in cold weather. Sunglasses are recommended all year round.
Minimum age is 16 but adult consent is required for under 18’s. The minimum height is 5ft and the maximum height is 6′ 6”. The maximum weight is 20 stone. Disabled access and facilities are available.
We suggest that you only have a light meal at least 45 minutes before your flight. Please don’t drink alcohol before you fly – it will invalidate your flight.
