For anyone who’s ever wanted to experience the satisfaction of piloting a helicopter, this flying lesson is a must try. Based at Wycombe Airpark, this fun-filled aerial adventure gives high-flyers a chance to take their first steps towards becoming a real helicopter pilot. Start with a briefing which includes a run down on the controls of a two-seater R22 helicopter. Once ready to go, it’s time for a vertical lift-off – take charge of this nimble training craft for an entire 15 minutes and find out exactly what it’s capable of, with the instructor offering flying tips and advice from start to finish. The feeling of flying a helicopter incredible, as are the views – it’s the ride of a lifetime!

Availability

At least two weekend dates per month throughout the year, excluding the Christmas and New Year period.

How long does the experience last?

Lasts up to three and a half hours including a briefing, tuition and 15 minutes of hands-on flying time.

How many other people?

The helicopter flight is one-to-one with just the participant and a seasoned pilot.

Can I take people to watch?

Spectators are welcome to watch the take-off and landing. A pair of binoculars or a camera comes in handy.

What do I wear?

Please bear in mind that inside the helicopter can get quite warm. Sunglasses are recommended all year round.

Are there any restrictions?

Min age is 12. Max weight is 14 stone, max height is 6’5”. For security reasons, photographic ID (ideally a passport) MUST be produced on the day to be permitted to fly. Wheelchair users are welcome.

Anything Else?

This experience counts towards a Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL). Please note, the lunch is a choice of a buffet style or a voucher for the on-site cafe.
